Riders return to the track at Jerez for the final day of testing in 2025

After an exciting Day 1 of the second test event at the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto, Andalucia, the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship’s riders returned to the track for Day 2. Some team staff and several riders made their WorldSBK test debut in Day 1, such as BMW’s new rider pair, Danilo Petrucci (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and Miguel Oliveira (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and Honda HRC’s new duo of Somkiat Chantra (Honda HRC) and Jake Dixon (Honda HRC). They and others will look to take advantage of blue skies in Jerez for a productive day of testing and work through their to-do lists for the last time before the new year. 18:00 – That's all she wrote in Jerez! your fastest three finish as Lowes, Vierge and van der Mark

17:28 – The green flag has been waved and the test action returns!

16:59 – Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team) crashes between Turns 12 and 13, bringing out a red flag.

16:20 – Axel Bassani is having a strong day with his new crew chief Uri Pallares, in what is their first test of their collaboration together since Pallares joined from Yamaha. ‘El Bocia currently sits in P5 as the team “experiments” with different parts and settings.

15:49 – Van der Mark continues his hard work in Jerez, having run the most laps of the day with 58, followed by Honda test rider Nagashima with 55 and Oliveira with 54.

15:22 – Dixon has seen gravel again, this time on Turn 5 as he and his teammate Chantra continue to find their footing with the Honda CBR1000RR-R SP.

15:19 – Alex Lowes lays down a 1’37.825s time to take P1 on his 45th lap, just two tenths slower than his best time in the season-concluding Pirelli Spanish Round at the same circuit. Elsewhere, other riders are heating up as well, Locatelli has matched his best time from the round and van der Mark even improving upon his.

14:28 – Dixon suffers a crash at Turn 2 but walks away uninjured

14:26 – With Bassani, Petrucci, Ferrari and Perolari the only riders on track, we will be back with you shortly after a break for lunch!

14:18 – Bassani has looked strong in Day 2 so far, currently sitting in P4 as he and new crew chief Uri Pallares start their collaboration.

14:06 – Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team) leads the WorldSSP field  with a time of 1’42.439s as he sits in the garage currently following his third stint.

13:40 – Not wanting to be left behind by his teammates, Locatelli clambers up to P2 after a 1'38.275s lap. Both his time and Vierge's ahead of him clocked in faster than the fastest lap in Race 2 this last season.

13:35 – Yamaha strike again on Day 2! Vierge and Manzi leap up the order to dethrone van der Mark, Vierge now sitting P1 thanks to his 1'38.236s effort, while Manzi sits half a second beehind him.

13:21 – Just above Honda HRC's riders on the timesheet, the BMW factory pair of Petrucci and Oliveira sit in P7 and P8, 0.432s and 0.704s off of their test rider teammate van der Mark in P1.

13:10 – Honda HRC’s new rider pair of Somkiat Chantra and Jake Dixon are continuing to familiarize themselves with their Honda CBR1000RR-R SP platform, they’ve ran a total of 176 laps cumulatively over the last two days.

12:54 – It's currently three different manufacturers in the top three as van der Mark maintains his P1 position as the only rider in the 1'38's, while Alex Lowes and Xavi Vierge trail by 0.127s and 0187s respectively.

12:45 – Locatelli has enjoyed a strong day of testing so far, setting times fast enough to sit P4 and P5 with his bike and with a testing bike, labelled as "LA3" on the live timing.

12:42 – Tied for the most laps ridden with 24, Manzi improves his time to 1’39.320s to climb up to P6.

12:15 – Both BMW riders are in the box at the moment, Petrucci currently sixth fastest and Oliveira eighth. As well as making his debut with the team this week, his crew chief  Andrew Pitt is a newcomer to the team alongside new Application Engineer Cristoph Lambert.

12:06 – Currently sitting in third, Locatelli will be trying out a slightly revised swingarm on his main bike as well as riding some laps on a different test bike in the afternoon.

11:55 – Rossi spoke earlier today about his renewed passion for competition now that he’s a part of the WorldSSP Championship and is looking forward to making steps with his challenge of adapting to the World Supersport bike from the lighter, less-powered Moto3 machines.

11:50 – WorldSSP’s current top three stand at Perolari in P1 thanks to his 1’42.836s time, tailed by Ricardo Rossi (Renzi Corse) 1.5s behind and Dominique Aegerter (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team) 0.073s behind Rossi.

11:34 – Xavi Vierge (Pata Maxus Yamaha) and Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) both emerge on track, ‘Loka’ seems to be picking up where he left off, jumping up to P2.

11:26 – Stefano Manzi (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) and Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) both emerge on track to take on the day, Bimota’s Guim Roda confirmed Lowes and Bassani will be testing new items on the bike over the course of the day.

11:22 – Already on his 12th lap, van der Mark goes to P1, the first to break into 1’38 territory with his 1’38.938s time.

11:17 – Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) jumps to the top of the order with his fifth lap’s 1’39.896s time, more than 1.6s faster than the next rider on the timesheet.

11:15 – Somkiat Chantra emerges on track to join Nagashima from the Honda camp.

11:05 – Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) takes to the track, now working with his new Crew Chief Uri Pallares 

10:59 – Ana Carrasco (Honda Racing World Supersport) has emerged from the Garage and has ridden three laps so far, the fastest of which a 1’48.015s.

10:43 – Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Test Team)  and Corentin Perolari (Honda Racing World Supersport) pop out on track, jumping to early P1’s in their respective classes with times of 1’42.842s for the Dutchman and 1’43.855s for the Frenchman.

10:32 – Matteo Ferrari puts on his helmet and takes to the track as the first WorldSSP rider to do so and just the second rider overall.

10:31 – While he’s now back in the garage, Nagashima remains the only rider to emerge on track, having ran so far a total of seven laps.

10:19 – Honda test rider Tetsuta Nagashima is the first rider on track as the #45 pulls out of pit lane.

10:08 – Bimota permanent riders Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani will appear today after not participating in Day 1. Bassani will begin his collaboration with Uri Pallares. today when he takes to the track.

10:00 – Day 2 is a go! Bitter temperatures around 4ºC might mean a bit of a slow start in Jerez this morning but the field is raring to take to the track!

DAY 1

18:00 – And with that, Day 1 is over! Locatelli, Vierge on a Yamaha testing bike, and Michael van der Mark were the fastest three, tune in the same time tomorrow starting at 10:00 (UTC +1) for the final day of 2025's testing!

17:54 – With six minutes left, Jake Dixon is the sole rider left on track, currently sat in P9.

17:40 – With the sun fading in the sky, most riders have called it a day, Stefano Manzi in the end rode the most laps of all riders , 95 in total.

16:54 – Some riders such as Xavi Vierge are beginning to call it quits for the day.

16:28 – Honda’s 2026 pair sit neatly in a row with Dixon in ninth,  Chantra in 10th, and test rider Tetsuta Nagashima in P11.

16:08 – Bimota’s lone ambassador on Day 1, Xavi Fores currently sits atop his KB998 Rimini in P7 thanks to his 1’39.762s time.

16:02 – after recording his 66th lap and claiming the mantle of the rider who has ridden the most laps so far today, Petrucci returns to the pits.

15:26 – Manzi and Vierge in rapid succession jump to second and third behind Locatelli who remains in the front. The #62 and #97 continue to trim down their times, now each within two tenths of the 1’38 mark, who only Locatelli has broken.

15:15 – Miguel Oliveira continues to learn his BMW bike, hopping up the order to P8 from his 1’40.076s time set on his 43rd lap.

14:49 –  With both riders back in their box, Honda’s new rider pair of Chantra and Dixon have enjoyed a productive debut test, sitting in seventh and eight respectively. Chantra’s time of 1’40.285s sits him currently two tenths ahead of his English teammate.

14:21 – With most teams taking a break for lunch, Stefano Manzi (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) stayed out longer to raise his tally to more than any other rider, now sitting at a total of 56 laps.

13:59 – Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) becomes the first rider so far to break the 1’38s mark with his 38th lap, raising the bar to 1’38.641s.

13:17 – Andrea Locatelli has so far ran the most of all WorldSBK riders with 34 laps, while WorldSSP rookie Riccardo Rossi has the most overall with 36.

13:03 – Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team) leads the WorldSSP field with his time of 1’43.171s, clocking him just eight thousandths of a second ahead of Perolari behind him.

12:34 – Andrea Locatelli's 1’39.640s time on his 22nd lap sends him above the pack for the fastest time registered so far; behind him, Vierge and Manzi sit in P3 and P4 to make it three Yamahas currently in the top four.

12:26 – New BMW pair Danilo Petrucci and Miguel Oliveira sit side by side on the timesheets in P8 and P9 respectively as the pair continue their shakedown of their new BMW M1000 RR platform

12:03 – Michael van der Mark supplants the duelling pair of Dixon and Locatelli for P1 on his 1’39.694s time .

11:35 – Petrucci sees himself shuffled down to P4 as 2025 WorldSSP Champion new Yamaha rider Stefano Manzi (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) takes P3 from the veteran with his 1’41.109s time.

11:26 – Petrucci quickly makes his presence felt as he leaps up the order to third-fastest.

11:23 – The day is starting to heat up in earnest in Jerez as Oliveira, Xavi Vierge (Pata Maxus Yamaha), Stefano Manzi (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) and Danilo Petrucci (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) among others make their debut on track

11:14 – Not to be outdone, Locatelli raises the P1 bar  to 1’40.746s.

11:11 – Jake Dixon jumps to the top of the order with his 1’41.309s lap #6, outpacing Andrea Locatelli's 1’41.370s lap.

11:02 – Bimota test rider Xavi Fores shoots to the top of the timesheet on his third lap, timed at 1’42.918s.

11:00 – Honda HRC’s big new signings, Somkiat Chantra and Jake Dixon ride out together for their first laps on their new CBR 1000 RR-R.

10:54 – Ana Carrasco (Honda Racing World Supersport) and Ricardo Rossi (Renzi Corse) take to the circuit, the latest of WorldSSP’s riders on track.

10:33 – Corentin Perolari (Honda Racing World Supersport) emerges from the box to set the first WorldSSP times of the day, his fastest clocking in at 1’46.342s.

10:21- Temperatures in Jerez hang at a brisk 10 degrees at the moment, set to increase as the day continues however at the moment van der Mark is the only rider on the WorldSBK grid who has laid down laps.

10:00 – We are underway! Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Test Team) is the first to take to the track before immediately riding back into the garage.
